First State to provide financial assistance for any transplant to needy people through Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Scheme up to 22 lakhs.
First State to start Liver Transplant in Stanley Government Medical College and Hospital.
Significant contribution from 13 government medical colleges and hospitals and 27 government NTORC hospitals towards organ transplantation.
First State in the country to streamline organ allocation.
First State in the country to clarify Medico legal procedures related to Organ Donation from Brain Dead Donors.
First state to undertake many combined transplants like Pancreas & Kidney, Liver & Kidney, Heart & Lung etc.
First State to play an advisory role for many States & GOI.
Almost all the States and even the GOI have replicated the G.O.s of Tamil Nadu.
First State to have won the Best State Award in Organ Donation & Transplantation six times in a row from the Government of India.
First State in the country to achieve Guinness World Record for the largest Organ Donation awareness talk for 3005 participants held on 24.10.2018.
First State in the country to achieve Asia Book of Records for the largest number of participants in Marathon for Organ Donation Awareness held at Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu on 17.08.2019 in which more than 12,000 people participated.
